Firing In Dibrugarh, Bike-Borne Assailants Hack Man To Death

A .3 pistol bullet has been recovered from the location


A firing incident is reported from Dibrugarh town. Bike-borne miscreants first attacked a man with a sharp weapon and open fired from close range leaving him dead in the evening hours of November 18th, 2019.

As per reports, the incident took place near Graham Bazaar area. The victim identified as Omprakash Agarwal was an employee of Kamla Mill located in the Maijan area. Agarwal is said to have been returning to his home from work when the assailants intercepted his vehicle and taking advantage of the dark attacked him.

A police team immediately reached the spot and investigations are underway.

“We are currently investigating the matter behind the attack. We have been informed that the deceased was taking care of the flour mill and was given the responsibility to collect money from vendors which amount to lakhs and report to the owner. We suspect that the miscreants might have followed him and planned the attack and fled with the money,” said a police official.

The police further informed that the firing took place about 100 meters from his residence, Beria Building. A .3 pistol bullet has been recovered from the location.

“He was an extremely well-behaved person. He was a puja committee member and attack is a shock to us,” said a local.

He has been taken to Assam Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.

UPDATE: The traders and business establishment in Dibrugarh are observing a bandh today in protest against the brutal killing of the Mill employee. They have also demanded immediate arrest of the culprit, adequate compensation to the bereaved family and government job to both the daughters of the victim.
