Father Arrested For Allegedly Raping Minor Daughter In South Kamrup

Pranab Das has been arrested on the basis of an FIR lodged by his wife


The Palashbari police on September 20th, 2019, arrested a man for allegedly raping his 7-year-old daughter at Mirza in South Kamrup. The accused has been identified as Pranab Das.

Police arrested him on the basis of an FIR lodged by his wife accusing him of raping their minor daughter. The FIR was lodged on September 19th, 2019.

A case (No 434/2019) under sections 376(A) and 376 (B) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) 2012 has been registered against the accused at the Palashbari Police Station. He will be produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kamrup, police said.

However, the accused denied the allegation against him. “She took revenge due to the family issues,” he told the media.

The accused is employed in Kothakuthi School Assam’s Dhupdhora in Goalpara district and is residing with his family on rent at Mirza.
