Eight Drug Peddlers Arrested In Three Days In East Jaintia Hills

The Anti-Narcotic Task Force, East Jaintia Hills, Khliehriat police and Ladrymbai police arrested eight drug smugglers in a series of raids conducted from November 11th to 13th, 2019, against narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

Police recovered a total of 45 gram of heroin from the possession of the accused.

The accused have been identified as Chales Myrchiang, Sanjit Singha, Sabul Uddin, Aftab Uddin, Kyrshan Syrti, Trusty Latam, Ferdinand Pale and Chanmi Patwet.

Myrchiang was arrested on November 13th, 2019, with 4.15-gram heroin from Ladrymbai Dongwah Pohktieh while Sanjit, Sabul and Aftab were arrested on November 12th, 2019 and Kyrshan, Trusty, Ferdinand and Chanmi were arrested on October 11th, 2019 at Moopala.

Separate cases have been registered under relevant sections against the accused.

Meanwhile, the East Jaintia police thanked the people who assisted the raids. “It is our continued endeavour to enforce the NDPS Act in the district as strictly as possible,” Vivekanand Singh, Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District, said while appealing the people to come forward and assist in fighting the menace.
