
The Joint Director of Health Services of eastern Assam’s Dibrugarh, Udayan Kumar Baruah was suspended by the State Government for dereliction of duty.
The Dibrugarh district administration stated that Dr Udayan Kr Baruah, Joint Director of Health Services have been out of the headquarter without availing permission from the Deputy Commissioner, Dibrugarh and competent authority since April 12th, 2020.
“His absence from duty without information tantamount to gross negligence and dereliction of duty during the pandemic COVID-19,” an official said.
In view of the gross misconduct, Dr Baruah is placed under suspension under Section 6(1) of the Assam Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1964 with immediate effect pending departmental proceedings vide an order issued by the Commissioner Secretary to the Govt. of Assam Health & Family Welfare Department, the official informed.
Dr Nabajyoti Gogoi, SDM & HO (HQ) has been directed to take over charge of i/c Joint Director of Health Services, Dibrugarh along with financial powers until further orders.
