Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched sharp attacks on each other.

While replying to a debate on the President’s speech on February 6th, 2020, Modi took a savage dig at Gandhi’s ‘danda’ jibe, saying he suffered a lot in the last 20 years which had made his back ‘danda-proof’.

“I heard an Opposition MP saying we will beat Modi with sticks in six months. I have also decided- will do more Surya Namaskar. This will make my back even stronger to face abuses. In any case, I have been abused so much for the last two decades, their negativity hardly matters. I will make myself gaali-proof (abuse-proof) and also danda-proof (stick-proof),” Modi said.

As Gandhi stood up and attempted to interject, Modi: “I have been speaking for 30-40 minutes but the current has reached there now. Bahut se tubelight aise hi hotey hai (many tubelights are like this).”

The members of the ruling BJP burst into laughter and thumped their desk in delight. The Wayanad MP attacked Modi saying that the youth will hit Prime Minister with sticks if he is unable to address the issue of unemployment in the country.

Addressing a rally in Delhi on February 5th, 2020, Gandhi said, “The Prime Minister is right now delivering speeches, but six months later, he will not be able to even leave his home. The youth of India will beat him up with sticks for failing to provide jobs,” the Congress leader said.

Responding to Modi’s Surya Namaskar jibe, Gandhi said, “Modi’s style is to distract India from real issues. He said he will provide 2 crore jobs but it has been five and a half years and nothing has happened. In last year, one crore youth lost their jobs and Modi has not said a word on it.”
