Cotton University Students’ Body Poll: 38 Candidates Gear Up For A Tough Fight

The candidates are running from one hostel to another to reach out to every single student

The Cotton University Students’ Union (CUSU) election, which is scheduled to be held on October 1st, 2019, is all set to witness a tough fight. Altogether 38 candidates have filed their nominations for 16 posts in the Students’ Union.

The students leave no stone unturned to be a part of the CUSU and all the candidates are currently on a campaigning spree to gather maximum votes to fulfil their vision of a new and progressive university.

Speaking to Time8, Ankita Deka, who is contesting for the post of Music Secretary, said, “I completed my graduation from the Cotton University and presently, I am a student of the Mass Communication department. I have seen this institution grow in the years but coming to the music part, it still lacks basic necessities and facilities. If voted to power, I will make sure to organise a music festival at our university so that the students get a bigger platform to showcase their talent.”

Campaigning for the elections will end on September 30th, 2019 and the students are running from one hostel to another to reach out to every single student.

A total of three students are eyeing for the post of president and the candidates are – Ankita Boruah, Hirak Jyoti Patowary and Sasanka Kumar Nath. “There is a wide communication gap between the administration and the students in our university. I want to bridge the gap and create a healthy environment. Secondly, our feedbacks, which we submit regarding the works of various department and professors, are never executed. I also want to conduct seminars in our varsity,” Nath said.

Three students are vying for the post of vice-president – Gitusmita Kalita, Manisha Deka and Tarali Das. Meanwhile, for the post of General Secretary, three candidates have filed their nominations, namely Rahul Bordoloi, Rhishikanya Batswa and Simanta Das.
