
The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (V & AC) of Assam has upped its vigil against government officials demanding bribe for clearing pending dues.
The sleuths of the V & AC are keeping a close watch on monetary transactions as the financial year is coming to a close.
Additional Director General of Police, V & AC, AnuragTankha informed that the Directorate is receiving complaints of demand for illegal gratification by some public servant from various departments for clearance of bills as the fiscal year is coming to an end.
“We urge and request all the citizens to report such instances to the Directorate in a secretive manner so that the corrupt can be booked,” Tankha said.

The sleuths of the V & AC arrested an Executive Engineer, PWD Electrical Division, Tezpur on bribery charges on February 28th, 2020.
Narayan Chandra Dey was caught “red-handed” while accepting a bribe amount of Rs 40,000 from an Electrical Contractor, in the office of Executive Engineer PWD Electrical Division, Tezpur located at Rubber Bagaan, Tezpur.
On February 25th, 2020, architect Gautam Barua, wanted in connection with Assam Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board scam, was arrested from New Delhi by the sleuths of Chief Ministers Special Vigilance Cell with the assistance of Delhi Police.
Baruah is the alleged prime accused in over Rs 121 crore alleged scam, involving misappropriation of the money collected as cess for the welfare of construction workers.
