Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation on March 19th, 2020 In the view of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic across the country and abroad.
According to a tweet by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Modi will address the nation at 8 pm. “PM Shri @narendramodi will address the nation on 19th March 2020 at 8 PM, during which he will talk about issues relating to COVID-19 and the efforts to combat it,” PMO tweeted.
In another tweet, the PMO said that the Prime Minister chaired a high-level meeting to review the ongoing efforts to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
“Ways to further strengthen India’s preparedness were discussed. This includes further enhancing testing facilities,” it said.
Modi has emphasised on actively engaging with individuals, local communities and organisations in chalking out mechanisms to fight the coronavirus menace.
He has also urged officials and technical experts to deliberate on the steps to be taken next.
Modi also expressed gratitude to all those at the forefront of combating COVID-19 including the various State Governments, medical fraternity, paramedical staff, armed and paramilitary forces, those associated with the aviation sector, municipal staff and others.
The Prime Minister has urged people to share technology-driven solutions for (COVID-19) on MyGovIndia, the citizen engagement platform of the Government of India.
Prime Minister Modi and the leaders of eight South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) nations spoke to each other through video conference on Match 15th,2020, to chalk out a joint strategy to fight the coronavirus outbreak.
Modi proposed the creation of a COVID-19 Emergency Fund based on voluntary contributions from all the countries, with India making an initial offer of US $10 million for the fund.
