Coronavirus Outbreak: 55 Persons Under Observation In Assam, Says Himanta

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on March 4th, 2020, said that a total of 55 persons, who have returned from China, have been kept under observation as a preventive measure from the Coronavirus outbreak.

Replying to a question raised by Bokajan MLA Numal Momin, the minister said while 46 cases are being surveilled by authorities, nine of the suspected cases are being monitored from home.

Speaking to the media persons outside the assembly on the third day of the Budget Session, minister of state, Health & Family welfare, Pijush Hazarika said, “All the 55 people are international tourists, who were detected during screening at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport and were subsequently contained.”

Meanwhile, Momin suggested setting up of surveillance system at railway stations of the State, especially in Guwahati.
