One Government Railway Police Force (GRPF) personnel was arrested for allegedly stealing gold from a train passenger at the Guwahati Railway Station.

ASI Sraban Kumar Jha was arrested on February 4th, 2020 under section 384/34 of the IPC based on a complaint (Case no 24/2020) filed by one Suresh Kumar from Faridabad.

The incident took place on January 17th, 2020 when Kumar was on his way to Faridabad by the Dibrugarh-Delhi Rajdhani Express.

The complainant claimed that when the train halted at Guwahati Railway Station, three RPF personnel checked his baggage inside the coach.

Suresh alleged that the cops took the gold from his baggage saying they will register a police case and eventually “disappeared”. The FIR was filed on January 30th, 2020.
