Guwahati: Altogether, 29,701 TET teachers serving under the Sarba Siksha Abhiyan, 11,206 state pool contractual teachers and another 5,243 contractual high school teachers will get regular pay scale at par with the government teachers of the state from June 1.
While making the formal announcement on Sunday, state’s education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the teachers’ contract, previously signed for a period of one year, will now be extended till sixty years. ‘The new contract will privilege the teachers to remain in service until they attain the age of sixty,’ the minister said.
Sarma further said, ‘From now onwards, these teachers will get annual increment, dearness allowance in every revision, casual leave, maternity leave, medical leave at par with the regular government teachers. The government will also extend undertaking so that they can legitimately access bank loans.’
The minister also highlighted that the teachers will also entitle for annual medical benefit up to Rs 5 lakh. “The teachers’ parents, immediate family members will also eligible for the medical benefit,” he added.
