Amid massive protests opposing Centre’s proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill, an effigy of Assam Minister and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president Atul Bora along with a ‘suicide note’ was found hanging in front of the AGP headquarters in Guwahati.

The shocking incident is suspected to be the handiwork of some miscreants. A team of the CRPF, however, reached the spot and clear the gates of the AGP office in Ambari.

It may be mentioned that the AGP leader had recently hinted that his party was not going to oppose the Bill. “We cannot stop the Centre from passing the Bill if the BJP wants to fulfil its national agenda, let it be done,” he was quoted as saying by a section of the media.

The Minister in the Sonowal led cabinet further claimed that they would sit for a ‘bargaining tool’ with the Centre in case of the Bill.

Earlier three of the AGP leaders Keshab Mahanta, Phani Bhusan Choudhury including Bora had resigned from their posts opposing the Bill.
