In the wake of global spread of pandemic, the only option for the people is to remain inside the homes and safeguard themselves from the disease by frequently cleaning their hands besides maintaining the physical distance with each others.
There have been reports about non-availability of sanitizers and other related products in the market.
In a statement to media president Dr NL Agarwala and secretary Jitu Barman of the Chemists & Druggists Association of Assam (CDAA) clarified and informed that Corona related Hygiene products including Hand Sanitizers, Masks, etc. have been made available by members of this association at all retail Chemists counters that too at MRPs fixed by the government in larger public interest.
In the statement they added, “The association would like to inform the consumers that they can contact pharmacies in their respective areas to procure Hand Sanitiser and other products like Handwash soaps, Disinfectants from Dettol, Savlon, etc. at the prices (MRP) fixed by the government across the state.”
The statement added, “It is significant that local manufacturers of Assam took the lead in making available these products at government recommended prices while maintaining the quality. The ‘Handuser-C’ of the GRD Pharmaceuticals was the first brand of the Northeastern region which not only made available the sanitizer but also matched the prices recommended by the government.”
Ghanshyam Dhanuka of the GRD Pharmaceuticals also assured that there is sufficient stock available at Government rates to cater North East at large. He also informed that end user and customers should refrain from buying sanitizers above government rates and old MRPs. The current MRP rate as per Government rule is 500ml – Rs. 250 , 200ml – Rs. 100 and 100ml – Rs. 50.
The association however regretted that there have been sudden growth in sanitizer manufacturing companies in different nook and corner of the state and majority of them are producing sanitizers and other products without having requisite licenses or expertise. Even they are not following the mandatory norms for manufacturing the health products as recommended by ICMR and Dermatologists.
