In a dramatic incident, a Maruti 800 rammed into an e-rickshaw and fell into the Dorika river in Sivasagar district after the brakes failed and the driver lost control of his vehicle.

The incident took place near Rajabari Village in Demow Tehsil of the district. The vehicle owner was on his way home from a servicing center with the mechanic when he lost control of the car.

Fortunately, a group of locals from the river bank sprung into action and jumped into the water body and rescued both the persons. One of the injured has been Pragati Hospital and Research Centre.

The locals also managed to fish out the vehicle from the water.

A police team have reached the spot and are investigating the matter.
