The Dibrugarh District Congress Committee on January 13th, 2020 took out a massive rally against the amended Citizenship Act and demanded the immediate release of All India Congress Committee(AICC) leader Dhrubajyoti Gogoi.
The anti-CAA protesters joined by former Congress Minister Atuwa Munda gheraoed the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Dibrugarh and shouted slogans like ‘Stop Assam Police hooliganism’, ‘Joi Aai Axom’, ‘Withdraw CAA’.
The Congress claimed that Gogoi’s arrest was a sheer conspiracy and that he should be released without any condition. “The Congress has been protesting against the Citizenship Act tooth and nail. We will continue to do so and cannot accept the law at any cost” said Atuwa Munda while addressing the media.
It may be mentioned that on January 10th, 2020 a special police team arrested the AICC leader from Duliajan. He is presently at Guwahati prison.
