Burglar Brothers Arrested, Stolen Goods Recovered In Tawang

Three brothers, all in their early twenties, were arrested by the Tawang police in Arunachal Pradesh on October 17th, 2019 on charges of theft. The police also recovered a number of stolen items from the accused. A number of housebreaking implements including electric cutter, electric drilling machine were also seized from their possession.

The accused burglars have been identified as Dawa Rai and Nima Rai. Both are residents of Buddung Teng (Kargil Colony).                                                                                            

In the month of September, complaints were received from the residents of Buddung Teng regarding continuous cases of burglary and attempts of burglary in the colony. Accordingly, cases were registered and an investigation was taken up. 

Keeping in view of the incidents, teams led by Tawang Deputy Superintendent of Police, Thupten Jambey consisting of ASI Koncho Tsering OC/PS Tawang, Inspr (IRBN) Rinchin Dakpa, RI, ASI Genden Chhota, ASI Ngopseng Monpa, HC (BN) Karsang Monpa and 15 others were constituted under the overall supervision of Sagar Singh Kalsi, Superintendent of Police Tawang to apprehend the culprits.

“Human intelligence was mounted and the night patrolling was strengthened in the area. On September 26th, 2019, based on a tip-off, a raid was conducted at a house at Lechheme Rong, where one Passang Rai and his brothers were staying at a rent and Passsang was apprehended along with a number of stolen goods and housebreaking implements. His two other accomplices were successful in slipping away,” Tawang police stated.

Massive search operations were launched across the region. On October 16th, 2019, a raid was conducted at high mountain region of Nagula area (above 14000 feet) and Dawa and Nima were finally arrested.

“During the sustained examination, the three accused revealed that they all are brothers and are born and brought up in Tawang district. They have not studied the past primary and were working as labourers. In the lure of easy money, they planned and started housebreaking at night into the hamlets in the nearby basti. When successful, they started committing burglaries across the district. More than 10 to 11 cases of unreported burglary and theft have been committed by them,” added Tawang Police.

Tawang Police recovered the stolen laptop, LCD TV, gas cylinders, mobiles, video cameras, furniture, clothes and blankets, Aadhaar cards, other documents and cash amounting to Rs 31,360.
