BTC Elections Dates Announced: Polls To Be Held On April 4, Result On April 8

The last date of filing nominations is March 18th, 2020


The Assam State Election Commission announced the dates for the election to the General Council of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).

The elections will be held on April 4th, 2020. The counting will be held on April 8th, 2020. The term of the General Council of BTC, headed by Bodoland People’s Front leader Hagrama Mohilary, is going to expire on April 27th, 2020.

The last date of filing nominations is March 18th, 2020. The nominations will be scrutinised on March 19th, 2020 and the last date of withdrawal of candidature is March 21st, 2020.

The BTC has 46 executive members each looking after a specific area of control called somisthi. The area under the BTC jurisdiction is officially called the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD).

The BTAD consists of four contiguous districts — Kokrajhar, Baksa, Udalguri and Chirang.
