Two Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) were recovered by the city police on February 5th, 2020, at Panbazar area in Guwahati.
One of the IEDs was recovered from in-front-of the Bharali Brothers located in the Panbazar area and the other was recovered from near the Paltanbazar Police Station. As per information, the IEDs were packed in bags.
Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, Munna Prasad Gupta and other senior officials rushed to the spot. Police started an investigation into the matter.
Police suspected involvement of the United Liberation Front of Asom – Independent in the incident. “We had inputs. We recovered one of the IED from a drain. An investigation is underway,” CP, Guwahati said while speaking to the media persons.
The IEDs were recovered ahead of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state to participate in the celebration of the signing the historic Bodo Accord. The state government declared a public holiday on February 7th, 2020, for the celebration of the Bodo Peace Accord in four BTAD districts.
