
Assam chief minister Sarbanada Sonowal announced to release corpus fund of Rs 10 crore for the Asam Sahitya Sabha (ASS).
A meeting was chaired by Sonowal at his Guwahati residence on December 31st, 2019. Representatives of ASS, Bodo Sahitya Sabha and other 22 ethnic literary bodies attended the meeting.
“To keep alive and promote our rich linguistic traditions, we will also provide Corpus Fund of Rs 5 crore to Bodo Sahitya Sabha and Rs 3 crore to other indigenous Sahitya Sabhas of the state,” Sonowal said.
In the meeting, Sonowal deliberated on ways to further promote, protect and preserve the languages of the different indigenous communities of Assam.
On the other hand, under the ‘Bhasha Gaurav Achoni’, 1,000 new generation authors will be provided one-time financial grant of Rs 50,000 each for promotion of various languages of Assam. The authors will be chosen by the literary bodies of the state.
