The Assam government on December 20th, 2019, filed a review petition before the Gauhati High Court against its order to restore mobile-internet services in the state.
Citing the present law and order situation in the state, the government appealed the High Court to impose ban on mobile-internet services from 5 pm to 6 am everyday.

The Gauhati High Court had directed the state government to restore the mobile-internet services by 5 pm on December 19th, 2019. A division bench of Justices Manojit Bhuyan and Saumitra Saikia had passed the interim order after hearing four PILs filed by journalist Ajit Kumar Bhuyan, advocates Bonoshri Gogoi, Randeep Sharma and Debakanta Doley.
