A reshuffle of portfolios of the Sarbanand Sonowal-led Council of ministers is on the anvil. Sonowal is likely to reshuffle his cabinet this month.

The Chief Minister will fly to New Delhi on January 19th, 2020 to meet Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership for finalisation of the ministry reshuffle.

Speculations are rife that Siddhartha Bhattacharya might lose the Education portfolio. Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Naba Kumar Doley and State Minister for Handloom and Textile, Ranjit Dutta might also face the axe.
