AASU Demands Action Against Assam Police, Calls Sonowal ‘Shameless’

The Lakhimpur unit of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) on January 2nd, 2020 slammed the Assam Police for allegedly beating up people protesting the amended Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Nalbari.

Calling Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal ‘shameless’, the AASU activists asked the former to take action against the Assam Police.

“Sonowal is a shameless person and jatiya khalnayak (villain of the community). We condemned the act of brutality on protesters by Assam Police,” the AASU activists said.

The AASU activists also burnt the effigy of Sonowal and raised slogans against the newly amended citizenship law.

It may be mentioned, several videos of alleged brutality by Assam Police have gone viral on social media platforms.

The anti-CAA protesters also waved black flags at Sonowal on January 1st, 2020 at several locations while he was travelling from Guwahati to an ashram of a religious preacher in Barpeta district.
