
Assam Police has beefed up security ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kokrajhar district on February 7th, 2020. The Prime Minister is scheduled to address the ‘thanksgiving’ rally in Kokrajhar to celebrate the inking of the Bodo Accord.
Preparations are in full swing to welcome Modi in Assam. The Prime Minister will address a rally at Jangkritai Fwtar near Kokrajhar, 216km from Guwahati.
The vigilance and monitoring have been increased in the state following the recovered of two IEDs in Guwahati on the night of February 5th, 2020. Police and security agencies have been asked to be alert and vigilant.
As reported, the officials from Special Protection Group, Special Protection Unit, Bomb Disposal Squad and traffic police would be deployed for the mega event.
The activists of All Bodo Students’ Union and other local bodies took out a bike rally in Kokrajhar on February 6th, 2020 to kick-start the celebrations officially.
A public holiday has been declared in the four BTAD districts of Kokrajhar, Udalguri, Chirang and Baksa on February 7th, 2020. Four special trains will run to carry people to and fro Kokrajhar.
