
The Assam Police, which remained very active on social media throughout 2019 attracting people though its humorous presentations, issued an advisory to the people just a few hours left for the New Year.
“No matter how you decide to celebrate, make sure you begin 2020 with safety on the top of your mind. Celebrating responsibly can ensure that everyone has fun while staying safe,” the advisory reads.
The Kamrup (Metro) district administration and Guwahati Police have imposed a complete ban on playing loud music after 10 pm on New Year’s eve in the city. The administration has also imposed restrictions opening time for bars and restaurants.

“The defaulter will invite punitive action against them. Complaints can be lodged with police against the defaulter,” said Commissioner of Police, Guwahati Munna Prasad Gupta.
He also informed that “50 sensitive spots” in the city will be under the scanner. “The flying squads will monitor city hotels, restaurants, pubs and discotheques,” Gupta said.

The Guwahati Police and the Kamrup (Metropolitan) district administration have formed special flying squads to check drunken-driving, peddling of drugs and other untoward activities on the New Year’s eve in the city.
