Ayodhya Verdict: 5 Acres Of Plot To Be Given To Construct A Mosque: SC

Centre to hand over disputed land to Trustees: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has delivered the much-awaited verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case on November 9th, 2019. A five-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi finished the hearing in the long-standing dispute on October 16th, 2019.

The top court ordered that the Central Govt within three-four months formulate a scheme for setting up of trust and hand over the disputed site to it for construction of a temple at the site.

A suitable plot of land measuring 5 acres to be handed over to Sunni Waqf Board either by Central government or state government construct a mosque at the allotted land, the Supreme Court ordered.

The Ayodhya verdict comes after a century-old legal battle over a piece of land in Ayodhya where the 16th-century Babri mosque stood before it was razed by Hindu activists who believe it is the birthplace of Lord Ram.
