Assam Residents Stranded Abroad Asked To Email Details For $2,000 Aid

The Assam government has issued an e-mail id for the residents of the state who are stranded abroad and are unable to return home due to the global shutdown following the pandemic coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The residents of Assam, who went abroad 30 days, according to the date of stamping in their passports, before the suspension of international flights from March 22nd, 2020, will receive one-time financial assistance of $2,000.

The Assam government urged the stranded residents to send their details at the email id: [email protected] or tweet at @AssamFinDept.

It may be mentioned, the financial assistance is not for NRIs or people who have been working or studying for a long period of time and have houses or hostels to stay in.

Assam government announced that the state will be under lockdown from 6 pm, March 24th, 2020 till March 31st, 2020 (midnight) in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Essential services like pharmacies, medical, water supply, banking, and petrol pumps would be exempted from the purview of the lockdown. The states borders will be sealed and vehicles carrying essential items will only be allowed to ply.
