Assam Reports 427 Confirmed COVID-19 Cases

Assam on Monday crossed 400 COVID-19 cases with 35 new cases which has now taken the total number of cases to 427.

Among the new cases, 18 are from Golaghat, 6 are from Kokrajhar Quarantine centre, five from Karimganj, two from Sivasagar, one from Jorhat and one from Dhemaji.

Total number of cases in the state now stands at 427 with 363 active cases and four confirmed deaths. 57 have reported to have been recovered among these while three persons who were detected positive in Assam have migrated to their home states.

Assam in just one week saw sharp rise of more than 300 cases which has now made the situation very alarming. Most of the new cases belong to the Quarantine centres while some detected outside the centres too. It is also suspected that there are silent carriers among the people who are yet to come to the medical facilities and declare their conditions.

However, the health department has taken all necessary steps too get them checked.

Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday had state that Assam very soon will be able to conduct at least 5000 tests a day so that more persons infected with the virus can be detected.
