The Assam government has launched a helpline number to help its citizens stranded in other states due to novel coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown. The helpline number is 96-1547-1547.
Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that once people call at the helpline number, they will get an automated response with a link requesting them to submit their details.
“Upon verification, we shall submit an amount to help them. Those who are not able to fill the links themselves, we have a group of young volunteers from Gauhati University, Assam Engineering College and Cotton College who assist these people in filling the details. Volunteers will call back everyone to take details,” Sarma said.
The total number of COVID-19 positive patients in Assam now stands at 30. Sarma further said that most of the COVID-19 positive patients are recovering.
A total of 21 residents of Assam stranded abroad will be paid $1000 by April 25th, 2020, informed Sarma during a press conference in Guwahati on April 13th, 2020.
