Preparations are underway to host the 65th edition of the glamorous Filmfare Awards in Guwahati on February 15th, 2020.
It may be recalled the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on November 25th, 2019 with the Times Group to organize the glitzy and glamourous Filmfare Awards in Guwahati.
Speaking to Time8, ATDC Chairman Jayanta Malla Baruah said, “Preparations are going on in full swing for the upcoming Filmfare awards. We are progressing as per our plan.”
The main aim to host the Filmfare Awards ceremony in Guwahati is to boost the tourism sector of the state. The 65th edition of the awards show is likely to be held at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium at Amingaon.
This is the first time in six decades that the Filmfare’s annual awards ceremony will be held outside Mumbai. The awards programme will surely be a delight for the locals as they will get to see their favourite Bollywood stars take the stage at one of the oldest and most prestigious film events in India.
The Assam government has sanctioned Rs 300 to boost tourism in the Budget 2019. However, the tourism industry in Assam is taking a hit right now following violent anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 protests.
