Kenny Basumatary, a filmmaker from Assam raised Rs 10 lakh through crowdfunding to cover the release and post-production costs of his next film Local Utpaat.
He took to social media to share this news. The filmmaker thanked his 1,270 contributors for helping him achieve his target. He thanked his contributors who helped him cross the target of fund collection that will be used in the release of the film. “We’ve set a new Wishberry record for the most number of contributors,” he wrote on Facebook.
Basumatary also said that he will be releasing the first song from the film very soon. He also announced that the film will be releasing on September 4th, 2020.
Like his last films, Local Utpaat too is expected to be a complete laugh riot. He earlier directed Kung-Fu Part 1 and 2 and Suspended Inspector Boro. Basumatary is best known for directing the Assamese martial arts comedy film Local Kung Fu
He dropped out of college while pursuing Computer Engineering in IIT Delhi. He moved to Mumbai in 2009. Basumatary also wrote a book, Chocolate Guitar Momos, published in 2011.
