Assam Cong Set To Hit At BJP Over Citizenship Act In Special Session Of Assembly On Jan 13

The Assam Congress is all set to hit at the Bharatiya Janata Party-led state government over the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act in the special session of the State Assembly slated to be held on January 13th, 2020.

Earlier on January 3rd, 2020, former three-time Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had said that the Congress will move a resolution in the special session demanding implementation of Assam Accord in letter and spirit and to ensure that the act is not implemented in the state.

“We are going to move a resolution in the Special session of Assam Legislative Assembly that Assam Accord should be implemented in letter and spirit. CAA has not only violated the Assam Accord but also various provisions of our constitution,” Gogoi tweeted.

The session will begin with the governor’s address and would be followed by the motion of thanks on the address, according to the session’s calendar issued by the assembly principal secretary.

The speaker will then announce the report of the Business Advisory Committee, settling the business for the day-long session.
