Assam CM Asks Officials To Work For Protection Of Child Rights

Sarbananda Sonowal launched a mobile phone application ‘Sishu Suraksha’ in Guwahati today


The Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on November 14th, 2019, while speaking on the protection of child rights, asked the concerned officials to take necessary steps in creating awareness against the drug and substance abuse among various sections of the society.

While launching a mobile phone application ‘Sishu Suraksha’ in Guwahati, Sonowal asked the concerned department and officials to organise programmes at the panchayat level focusing on child empowerment, child rights and its violations.

He further said that the application will empower citizens across Assam to lodge a complaint of any instance of child rights violation. “I firmly believe the app will help in protecting the children of rural and tea garden areas,” he added.

The CM also released a book titled – ‘The Little Sentinels’ published by Assam Police on the occasion.

State Director General of Police Kuladhar Saikia, who was also present on the occasion, said, “Storytelling is one of the greatest tools for empowering the young ones for growing up as alert and responsible citizens. The Little Sentinels by Assam Police is aimed at reaching the children.”
