The Assam units of the Centre for Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and Student’s Federation of India (SFI) too joined the countrywide protest of demanding wages and food for the people who are suffering during the ongoing novel coronavirus (COVID19) lockdown.
The protested by holding up placards with various slogans demanding “justice” from the Narendra Modi led government.
Even though the organizations had joined the nationwide protest, they maintained the norms of the lockdown and the social distancing.
In a statement, they said, “Instead of providing adequate financial resources the Prime Minister is limiting himself to only words and PRABACHANS. None of the issues of the migrant workers is addressed, letting them die out of hunger,”
They added that the government had given around 15.62 lakh crores to the corporates but it is not taking any initiative to even provide Rs 7500 to each non-income tax-paying families. They alleged that the agricultural workers as well as the MSMEs, are neglected by this government.
They also demanded strict action against the persons or organisations who are engaged in communal activities or spreading of fake news.
