The Assam Congress on September 25^th, 2019, accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of violating the code of conduct by launching new schemes after the announcement of the by-election dates to be held in October in the state.

Speaking to the media persons former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said, “BJP does not even care the ECI. They violated the code of conduct by launching new schemes after the announcement of the election dates.” The Assam Congress submitted a memorandum before the ECI in the matter.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on September 21^st, 2019, announced the date for the by-election in four constituencies of Assam. The constituencies are 1- Ratabari (Sc), 44- Jania, 74- Rangapara and 106- Sonari. Polling for the election will be held on October 21^st, 2019.

It may be mentioned that the state government on September 24th, 2019, launched the Free Drug Scheme for Tea Garden Hospitals. The government made 142 essential drugs free for the tea garden workers under the scheme. The government also launched Aponar Apon Ghar scheme (Housing Loan Subsidy) and Abhinandan Education Loan Subsidy scheme.
