The Election Commission of India (ECI) on September 21st, 2019, announced the date for the by-election in four constituencies of Assam. The constituencies are 1- Ratabari (Sc), 44- Jania, 74- Rangapara and 106- Sonari. Polling for the election will be held on October 21st, 2019.
It may be mentioned that the state government on September 24th, 2019, launched the Free Drug Scheme for Tea Garden Hospitals. The government made 142 essential drugs free for the tea garden workers under the scheme. The government also launched Aponar Apon Ghar scheme (Housing Loan Subsidy) and Abhinandan Education Loan Subsidy scheme.
