    Assam BJP To Contest Solo In 40 Seats In BTC Election

    The term of the General Council of BTC, headed by Bodoland People’s Front leader Hagrama Mohilary, is going to expire on April 27th, 2020

    In Assam, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to fight alone in all the 40 seats in the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) election.

    Addressing a presser in Guwahati on March 14th, 2020, Assam irrigation minister (independent charge) Bhabesh Kalita said, “We will contest alone in the BTC election. We will announce the first list of candidates on March 16th, 2020.”

    The election will be held on April 4th, 2020 in 40 seats.

    “The BJP is confident of winning 21 seats out of 40,” he added.

    The counting will be held on April 8th, 2020. The term of the General Council of BTC, headed by Bodoland People’s Front leader Hagrama Mohilary, is going to expire on April 27th, 2020.

    It may be mentioned, the BTC has 46 members, of whom 40 are elected and six are nominated from non-represented communities.
