
Slain National People’s Party (NPP) leader’s wife Chakat Aboh won the Khonsa West Assembly constituency seat in Arunachal Pradesh. Independent candidate Chakat has secured 5,705 votes, H Azet Homtok (Independent) has garnered 3,818 votes.
Tirong Aboh, who was the sitting MLA of Khonsa West Assembly seat, was shot dead along with other 11 people by unknown miscreants in Bogapani area of Tirap district of the state on May 21st, 2019.
Chakat was unanimously supported by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, opposition Congress, People’s Party of Arunachal, NPP and Janata Dal-United. Over 10,000 voters had exercised their franchise in the by-election to the seat held on October 21st, 2019.
