
The number of cases related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Assam is increasing day by day and on Wednesday, the total number reached 1621 with 60 new cases being reported.
Most of these cases in Assam are reported from people who have been returning from outside the states and are being lodged in various quarantine centres. On Wednesday, 38 cases were reported in Dhubri, 18 in Golaghat and 4 in Nagaon.
Total cases number of cases in the state has reached to 1621 with 1277 person still being active cases. So far 337 persons have recovered in the state and four persons were confirmed to be dead.
The number of cases in the state has been increasing at a double rate in the past 16 days. On May 17, the state reported its hundredth case in about two months time but on June 3, the cases crossed 1600 which indicated that the cases were doubling and in just 16 days, 1500 new cases were reported.
The government of Assam is trying to minimize the spread of the virus and taking all possible measures to tackle the pandemic.
