On March 28th, 2020, the Chabua police cited a ‘shown arrest’ in connection with a case (No 289/19) for his alleged involvement in anti-CAA protests-related violence in December last year. Before he was granted bail on the Sivasagar police station case on March 28th, 2020, Gogoi was sent to 14-day judicial custody by the Sivasagar CJM court on March 23rd, 2020. He was arrested by Sivasagar police from Guwahati Central Jail on March 19th, 2020, for anti-CAA related violence for ‘illegal assembly of people in Sivasagar district’.
