
Ahead of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections, Udalguri Police and Army recovered a cache of arms and ammunition buried underneath in midst of banana trees at No 1 Badagaonb area.
Based on specific inputs, a search operation was launched at No. 1 Badagaon under Udalguri Police Station.
During the search operation, one AK 56 Rifle with magazine and 12 live rounds ammunition was recovered. Police also recovered one rocket launcher with five live rockets, 40 numbers of .36 HE Grenade (dismantled) and 111 detonators with wire.
“The arms and ammunition were kept concealed under the beneath of sand in the midst of banana trees surrounded by small jungle. Legal formalities are being taken,” police said.

The BTC election will be held on April 4th, 2020 in 40 seats. The counting will be held on April 8th, 2020. The term of the General Council of BTC, headed by Bodoland People’s Front leader Hagrama Mohilary, is going to expire on April 27th, 2020.
