In a sensational incident, the Hojai police arrested a youth for allegedly raping and murdering a five-year-old girl at Daria Bosti in Assam’s Hojai district.
The accused has been identified as Bikram Harijan alias Chandan, 28, of the same area.
The body of the victim was recovered by her father on February 27th, 2020 morning. As per information, the child was missing from February 26th, 2020.
Speaking to the media persons, Jangmir Rongpharpi, Assistant Commissioner, said, “The child was missing since yesterday. After the preliminary investigation, it is clear that the child was raped and murdered.”
A case (No 164/20) under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 has been registered against the accused with the Hojai police.
