As many as thirty fire-related incidents were reported on the occasion of Kali Puja and Diwali which was observed across Assam on October 27th, 2019, officials informed.
A total of 17 persons have been reported to have sustained burn injuries so far, a joint report from Mrintyunjay services and Fire and Emergency services stated. Properties worth several crores were reduced to ashes. Out of the seventeen injured persons, six are from the Udalguri district followed by Jorhat and Dibrugarh with two casualties each and one each from Sonitpur and Lakhimpur districts.
On the other hand, as many as 127 road traffic accident cases were reported on Sunday. Out of which, Kamrup(Metropolitan) and Kamrup(Rural) recorded the highest number of road accidents with 16 cases each.
In the late evening hours of October 27th, 2019 a massive fire broke out at a fire-cracker stall amid the Diwali festivities in city’s Bhetapara area on Sunday. No casualties were reported in the incident.
