3 Held In Different Cases In Assam; Arms, Ammunition Recovered

The Demow police in Assam’s Sivasagar district on January 21st, 2020, arrested two persons in connection with a money snatching case. The accused have been identified as Jitu Khanikar and Nitul Hatimuria.

On January 11th, 2020, some unidentified motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched Rs 3,00,000 from Rajmai, one of the salesmen of Mahabir Oil Industries, while he was returning along with his colleagues from Demow by a vehicle. The incident took place at around 7:45   pm. The amount was collected at Demow market. A case (11/2020) under section 392 of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused.

An amount of Rs 23,900 and a mobile handset were recovered from the possession of Jitu Khanikar. “Three others, who were involved in the incident, have also been identified. Investigation of the case is in progress,” police said.

Meanwhile, based on specific input, the Maibang police arrested one DNLA cadre for hatching a plan of kidnapping. The cadre has been identified as Rabindra Naiding, 27, of Dolen Watiling in Maibang, Dima Hasao.

On January 20th, 2020, the Maibang police recovered one 7.65 mm pistol along with magazine and three rounds of 7.65 mm live ammunition from an auto-rickshaw at zero point under Maibong Police Station in the district. “The auto-rickshaw stopped 10-15 m away from Naka checking party at zero point under Maibong Police Station and two persons who were inside auto fled away in the nearby jungle. Further investigation is going on,” police said.
