3 Arrested For Attacking Milkmen Settlement In Dibrugarh

In a joint operation conducted by the Dibrugarh and Dhemaji police, three miscreants were arrested for their alleged involvement in the sensational attack in milkmen, cattle-rearers’ settlement in Charkhalia Chapori located in the middle of Brahmaputra river few meters from Chabua tehsil, Dibrugarh district.

Post the incident that took place on October 19th, 2019, a team under the supervision of Additional SP Dhrubajyoti Borah had started a search operation at Jonai and the trio Ranjan Kuli, Dhulanath Mili and Bikudar Dalek were arrested. The three of them were reportedly hiding at an establishment in Silapathar town in the Dhemaji district.

It may be mentioned that on a fateful day a group of miscreants suspected of belonging to the Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK) group armed with machete, spears launched an attack on the settlement leaving one dead and several injured. The deceased has been identified as Murli Jadav. He hailed from Bihar.

The students’ union reportedly set at least 10 houses to fire causing serious damage to the residents. The locals alleged that the group had been demanding Rs 2000- 70,000 from each family and after they failed to deliver the said amount the group attacked them.
