The total number of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Assam surged to 91 after two more persons linked with the potato warehouse case tested positive for COVID-19 on May 16th, 2020 in Guwahati.
Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet informed that now the total number of cases has now reached 91 with 46 active cases and 41 being discharged. Two were reported dead while two have migrated from the state.
Earlier 15 COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Guwahati. All the cases are related to a single person who used to work in a potato warehouse on the outskirts of Guwahati as well as at Hotel Rajkamal in Fancy Bazar.
Assam is after Tripura, has the largest number of COVID-19 positive cases in the North East region.
The details of the newly infected persons are yet to be released.
