A 16-year-old girl from Bongaigaon district of Assam has tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on April 28th, 2020.

She is the youngest COVID-19 patient in Assam. She hails from North Salmara.

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the girl is a secondary contact of an attendee of the Tablighi Jamaat congregation at Delhi’s Nizamuddin Markaz.

Assam has registered 36 COVID-19 positive cases of which 27 have been discharged and one patient has died. At present, there are eight active COVID-19 cases in the State.

Eight more COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals on April 26th, 2020, taking the total number of coronavirus recovered persons in Assam to 27.
