15 Critically Injured As Truck Hits Passenger Vehicle In Barpeta

Among the injured, there were five children in the vehicle


At least 15 people were badly injured in a road accident at Nagaon in Lower Assam’s Barpeta district on October 1st, 2019 morning.

The incident took place at Raiyatpar in Nagaon when two vehicles travelling in the opposite direction collided. The vehicle carrying passengers was travelling from Khetri to Kalgachia when it was hit ramped into a truck coming from the opposite direction.

Among the injured, there were five children in the vehicle. Critically injured persons Yudhistir (38), and Motilal Das (45) have been rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.

On the other hand, Asha Mandal (22), Basanti Rai (60), Bhabani Mandal (13), Dilip Das (25), Krishna Mandal (24), Sangita Mandal (11), Sabita Mandal ( 26), Rekha Mandal ( 50), Halani Mallik (60), Ratan Mandal (35), Sujit Mandal (14) and Bhabani Mandal (13) are undergoing treatment at Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Barpeta.

As per information available, the injured persons were on their way to attend a religious function when the accident occured.

It may be mentioned on September 23rd, 2019, ten people died and eight others were badly injured in a road accident at Demow in Upper Assam’s Sivasagar district. The incident took place at Thaora Dol in Demow when a Jorhat-bound passenger vehicle collided with a passenger bus going to Dibrugarh.

Four people died on the spot, six others were declared brought dead by the hospital. Expressing deep concern, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has asked the Transport Commissioner Virendra Mittal to launch a probe.
