100 City Buses To Run In Guwahati From May 4. All Deets Inside

Assam State Transportation Corporation (ASTC) to ply 100 city buses from 6 am to 5 pm, in Guwahati from May 4th, 2020.

The entire ticketing will be through Chalo app for city buses which will be fully digital.

“ASTC is providing bus service from all stations with only online booking system. No offline service is available in long-distance or intercity and inter-district services. Book your ticket through RedBus portal,” said Anand Prakash Tiwari, MD, ASTC.

He added, “ASTC will add new services from hills district, BTR, and Barak Vally. Buses will be operated from 6.30 am to 5 pm only. No night service is allowed at present.”

The scheduled departure and arrival of few inter-city and inter-district buses have already uploaded on RedBus portal.

The passengers will not be allowed to board the bus without a mask. The passengers may use gloves while boarding the bus.

As per the guidelines, ASTC buses can operate with up to 50 per cent seating capacity and bus depots can operate with up to 50 per cent capacity.

The buses will not allow standing travel as it violates the social distancing protocols.

Only 50 per cent seats are allowed for travel, the remaining seats will be kept vacant.

Spitting is strictly prohibited at the bus stand, inside or from the bus. It is a punishable offence under Section 51 (b) of the Disaster Management Act.

“Any violation of the norms by passenger or staff will lead to legal action. No bus will carry a passenger who does not have a digital ticket or have not booked a ticket in advance. Buses should not carry any live animal / or such products,” ASTC said.
